Methodology

How ClaimLedge works

Anonymous calculations that run in your browser. No sign-up, no phone calls, no data collected.

Your data stays on your device

Every ClaimLedge calculator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers you type are processed locally — never transmitted, stored, or associated with your identity. Nothing leaves your device. There is no account to create, no email to provide, and no phone number to enter. Close the tab and your data is gone.

Documented formulas, transparent sources

Each calculator uses established, auditable methods — not proprietary black boxes. The multiplier method for injury claims (general damages = economic damages × severity factor). The DIME formula for life insurance (Debt + Income + Mortgage + Education). Standard rating-factor models for auto premiums. Statutory formulas for workers' comp (state-specific weekly caps and impairment schedules). Published fine schedules for DUI penalties. Every tool cites its sources beneath the calculator so you can verify the methodology independently.

State-specific logic where it matters

Legal and insurance outcomes vary dramatically by jurisdiction. Where state law drives the result, our calculators incorporate state-specific logic: cost-of-living adjustments for DUI penalties, weekly benefit caps for workers' comp, noneconomic damage caps for medical malpractice, liability rules for dog bite claims. When you select your state, the calculator adjusts its model accordingly — and tells you exactly what it's assuming.

Estimates, not quotes or advice

Outputs are educational ranges, not binding quotes, legal opinions, or financial advice. Real outcomes depend on jurisdiction-specific rules, policy language, the facts unique to your situation, and the judgment of courts and claims adjusters. A calculator can tell you what a typical claim is worth; only a qualified professional can tell you what your claim is worth. Use these tools to ask better questions — not to make final decisions.

How to use a calculator

  1. Choose the right tool. Pick the calculator that matches your situation. Not sure? Use the search palette (Ctrl/Cmd+K) or browse by category on the homepage.
  2. Enter what you know. Required fields are marked with *. Optional fields refine the estimate — fill in as many as you can for a tighter range.
  3. Click Calculate. Your range appears instantly. The result shows a low estimate, a midpoint, and a high estimate to reflect the uncertainty inherent in any projection.
  4. Share or save. Use the "Share scenario" button to copy a link to your exact calculation — the recipient sees your inputs and results without you having to re-enter anything. Or print the page for your records.
  5. Consult a professional. Use the range to have a more informed conversation with an attorney, insurance advisor, or financial planner.

What we do not do

  • We do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
  • We do not save your inputs or results on any server.
  • We do not sell leads to attorneys, insurers, or anyone else.
  • We do not make sales calls or send marketing emails.
  • We do not use your data to train models or build profiles.
  • We do not require registration, subscription, or payment.

Works offline, loads fast

ClaimLedge is a progressive web app. Once visited, the core tools work without an internet connection — useful in a lawyer's office, at a courthouse, or anywhere signal is unreliable. Pages load in under a second on a typical connection. There are no tracking scripts, no social media widgets, no heavy frameworks. Just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript doing one job well.

Regularly updated

Insurance rates change. State laws amend. Court rulings shift the landscape. We update our calculators to reflect current data and flag when a methodology has changed. If something looks off, tell us and we'll investigate.

Corrections and feedback

If you spot an error, find a broken link, or think a calculator is missing a scenario, contact us. We read every message and correct verified errors promptly. ClaimLedge is built for the people who use it — your feedback makes it better.
