What ClaimLedge is

Claimledge is an independent library of ten browser-based estimation tools covering legal settlements, statutory penalties, and insurance costs. It exists because the dominant sites in this niche are lead-generation funnels: they show you a teaser, then gate the actual number behind a phone number and an email address. We built the alternative — the calculation happens in your browser, instantly, with no gate.

How estimates are built

Each tool implements a defensible, documented model. Representative examples:

  • Settlement tools use the multiplier method — special damages multiplied by a severity factor — the same first-pass framework used by insurance adjusters, with comparative-negligence reduction applied per state regime.
  • Penalty tools model statutory fine schedules with published penalty-assessment multipliers, plus administrative (DMV) fees on a separate track.
  • Life insurance sizing implements the standard DIME formula (Debt, Income, Mortgage, Education).
  • Rebuild cost uses per-square-foot construction cost ranges, not real-estate market value — the distinction that determines whether you are underinsured.

Every formula is published in plain language on its tool page, directly beneath the calculator, so you can audit exactly how a figure was derived.

Sources

Model inputs are drawn from publicly available material: state statutory fine schedules and vehicle codes, court fee schedules, negligence-regime statutes, NAIC consumer guidance, and published actuarial conventions. Where ranges vary widely by jurisdiction, we model tiered scenarios rather than a single national fiction.

Review cadence

Each page carries a "last updated" marker reflecting when its model and citations were last reviewed. Statutory content is reviewed at least annually and after relevant legislative sessions. If you spot an outdated figure, our contact page goes directly to the person who maintains the models.

Independence and conflicts of interest

ClaimLedge is funded exclusively by display advertising. We do not sell leads, we do not accept referral fees from law firms or insurers, and we do not accept payment to alter any formula, range, or editorial statement. Advertisers have no access to and no influence over calculator logic. This matters, because a settlement estimator funded by law-firm referrals has a structural incentive to inflate your expectations — ours has none.

Corrections policy

Errors in statutory figures, dates, or model inputs are corrected promptly and noted on the affected page. Substantive corrections are never silently made. To report an error, use the contact page with the subject "Correction."

What we will never do

  • Ask for your name, phone number, or case details as a condition of seeing a result;
  • Transmit or store your calculator inputs (see the privacy policy);
  • Present an educational estimate as a professional valuation (see the disclaimer).
